CAPITOL IMPACT JOINS CONNECT LABS BY WEXFORD – SACRAMENTO AS AN EARLY TENANT, ADVANCING AGGIE SQUARE, SACRAMENTO’S INNOVATION DISTRICT
Sacramento, CA — Capitol Impact, a Sacramento-based social impact consulting firm, announced today that it will establish a new workspace at Connect Labs by Wexford located within Aggie Square, becoming one of the first tenants in the flexible office space and marking an early milestone for the city’s university-anchored innovation district.
Developed and managed by Wexford Science & Technology, Connect Labs by Wexford is designed to support mission-driven organizations working at the intersection of research, policy, workforce development, and innovation. Capitol Impact’s decision to locate at Connect Labs Sacramento builds on its ongoing collaboration with Wexford and regional workforce leaders through the Capital Region Biotech Talent Partnership—an employer-led, Talent Pipeline Management (TPM) collaborative launched by Capitol Impact in partnership with the Sacramento Employment and Training Agency (SETA), and supported by Valley Vision, the City of Sacramento Office of Innovation & Economic Development, and Biocom California Institute. The initiative convenes biotechnology employers, education and training providers, and regional partners to define shared workforce demand, align training to industry-validated competencies, and expand equitable access to high-quality biotech and biomanufacturing careers across the Capital Region.
“Aggie Square represents Sacramento at its best—bringing people and institutions together to solve real-world challenges,” said Jay Schenirer, founding partner of Capitol Impact and a former Sacramento City Councilmember who was an early supporter of the Aggie Square vision. “Joining the Connect Labs community is a natural extension of our commitment to this region and to our mission of helping organizations expand opportunity and improve lives.”
Aggie Square is a $1.15 billion innovation district developed through a partnership among UC Davis, the City of Sacramento, and Wexford. First envisioned in 2017, the project was designed to create a collaborative environment where researchers, students, industry partners, and community organizations work side by side to accelerate ideas and deliver real-world impact. The district is located in Sacramento’s Oak Park neighborhood and includes community benefit commitments focused on affordable housing, local hiring, and workforce access for nearby residents.
“Capitol Impact is exactly the kind of organization Connect Labs was created to support,” said Monique Brown, Knowledge Community Director, Wexford Science & Technology. “As an early tenant, Capitol Impact brings deep regional roots and an entrepreneurial and collaborative approach that aligns with our goal of fostering innovation and inclusive economic growth.”
With its move to Connect Labs Sacramento, Capitol Impact joins a growing community helping shape the future of Aggie Square as an active platform for collaboration, problem-solving, and regional leadership—one designed to ensure Sacramento’s economy delivers benefits that extend well beyond the campus itself.
